child, don't close your eyes. the truth contains much beauty. though it scars your soul, it'll heal the wounds it makes. he cuts deap when the risk is great and the talk is cheap, but never leaves a wounded one behind.."blows that hurt cleanse away evil, as do stripes the inner depths of the heart." ~ proverbs 20:30

Drumroll, please.

The New Xanga

Sunday, May 18, 2008

Go visit Victoria's Xanga and tell her that anyone who thinks that spending your life on what you were created for and passionate about is wasting it, needs to get a real one.

I got a new haircut. It's constantly evolving.. curly.. straight.. hacked at.. curly again... anyway, pictures will eventually be at the new Xanga, who's estimated release date is.. sometime in the next 2 weeks.  (Aaand, congratulations to my dad, who found it. )

Itching to get creative juices flowing again...

Currently Listening: NeedtoBreathe - my newest CD's with most awesome songage.

Totally missed April, huh?

Guess I ought to update, eh?

Two news blurbs to [relatively] catch my poor Xanga up on my past 2 months:

  1. Michael & I are no longer together.
  2. I'm also quitting my job.

For the record, the timing of those things did not coincide, and while one may have had some influence over the other at various points in time, they did happen in that order for reasons primarily unrelated. I'm also happy to discuss some of the journey and what's been learned, as well as some futher thoughts on courtship, employment, and gifts. Over drinks or the elephony*.

I anticipate a great summer, full of sun, and maybe some new beginnings.

Free haircut to the first person other than my family (who get free haircuts anyway) that can find my new Xanga. (don't get excited, it's not done and it's actual date of true blog birth is as yet undetermined.)

*Quiz.. do you know where my ridiculous substitute for 'phone' comes from?

News & Fiber Color Survey

So I totally have a new job/promotion/transfer of department - esque sort of thing. :D

More precisely, Katie's been hired to fill my old barn duties, so that I can be brought into working on the Shepherd's Cross Wool Mill/processing facility. And I am EXCITED. We are totally on the move with this and I am developing vision for it, hardcore.

And! I am offering you, dear Sara's Xanga reader and possibly community member, to have a say in our preprocessing (and future processing) plans.

By answering a short series of yarn-color related questions here for me, you are enabling us at S.C. to better serve you and the knitting community at large, not to mention indirectly supporting local economy and sustainability.

What colors are you drawn to and like to look at?

What colors do you enjoy working with? (knitting, weaving, etc.)

Tones? (earthy, jewel, pastels, etc.)

What determines your yarn color selection for any given project?

Do you enjoy working with multiple colors at once, or do you prefer solid-color projects?

Do you prefer single, 2-ply, 3-ply, or 4-ply yarns?

If you are not a worker of fibers, but know someone who is, please pass this on! Also, feel free to answer as many questions as you have answers to, anyway. Thanks!
